Alimentary canal Notes:
Alimentary canal is the whole passage along which food passes through the body from mouth to anus during digestion. In humans for example the alimentary canal consists of an organ system which takes in food, digests it to extract and absorb energy and nutrients, and expels the remaining waste as feces. The mouth, esophagus, stomach and intestines are part of the gastrointestinal tract.
