Memory cells can be of different types for example one is the Memory B cells which are aformed following a primary infection. Another type is the memory T cells which are a subset of infection- and cancer-fighting T cells that have previously encountered and responded to their cognate antigen and therefore the term antigen-experienced T cell is often used. Such T cells can recognize foreign invaders, such as bacteria or viruses etc.
