In order to control the non-conformities in the produced products, it is important to focus on the processes that are performed to produce them. It is considered that the processes of producing products must be stable and capable. In this way they, will be able to produce products that meet the pre-defined specifications. To monitor and control the processes, control charts are used. These are also called process charts. Control charts are broadly classified into two categories. One of them is variable control charts. Variable control charts plot the process data that is quantifiable and can take on a numerical value. These data can include weight, capacity, diameter etc. Variable control charts are of two type; X-bar chart (identifies variation in sample averages), and R chart (identifies variation in sample ranges).
