Projects are divided into different classes based on the deliverables they provide to the customers. One of them is called material projects. In this class, the deliverables that are developed and provided need maintenance and services. The services are needed to be performed throughout the deliverable's life cycle. The term used for providing the services throughout the life cycle are called logistics support. One of the elements of logistic support is maintenance planning. As the name indicates, maintenance planning involves establishing the requirements of maintenance for the deliverables for their complete life cycle. Maintenance planning answers three questions; what (what is to be maintained), why (why it should be maintained), and how (how maintenance should be performed).
