Free Slack Definition:
Free Slack is the amount of time a particular activity can be postponed without delaying the earliest start time of its immediately succeeding activities.

Free Slack Notes:
Sometimes an activity takes more time than the estimated duration. Moreover, activities can be postponed due to different reasons. The amount of time an activity can be postpones without affecting the successor activity's start time is called free slack. To calculate the value of free slack, total slack values must be known. Free slack is the relative difference between the total slack values of the activities that enter into a particular activity. Considering the activities that enter into an activity, the lowest slack value is found and it is subtracted from the total slack values of the remaining activities entering into the said activity. The answer shows the value of free slack. As free slack is a relative difference so its value is always positive.
