Gerunds are the words ending with 'ing' they are verb but act as a noun. We can easily pick gerunds as these words are having tail of ing a the end of word. This is very simple term as they can be used in every situation. Unlike a normal noun, a gerund maintains some verb-like properties. Like a verb, a gerund can take an object directly and be modified with an adverb. For example "Writing in English can be difficult ". "Watching tv is my favorite pastime" gerunds can also be used as a subject in sentences, sometimes as a compliment as well "My favorite hobby is sleeping" and sometimes as a direct subject in a sentence" I love going to cinema".
