Adverbial phrases is a group of words that modifies a verb or an action. It modifies adjective, clause, adverb or a verb. Adverbial phrases are commonly formed when an adverb is being modified by another adverb. These modifying adverbs are known as mitigates, which decrease the intensity of the main adverb, and intensifiers which increases its intensity. For example "The player is running somewhat slowly back to the bench. He might be injured." (mitigate) "Jerry performed very well on the stage." (intensifier)
