An appositive is a noun that serves to describe or rename another noun (or pronoun) that appears directly before it in a sentence.

Appositive Notes:
Appositive is a noun or a noun phrase that renames another noun right beside it. It can be short as single word or can be long combination of words. It defines a noun or pronoun next to it, commas are used to add appositive with modifiers to form an appositive phrase. Appositive can be either at the end or in the middle. If, its in the middle of a sentence it is surrounded by commas and if its at the end, it has a comma before it. For example My brother's car, a sporty red convertible with bucket seats, is the envy of my friends.
