Isotopes Definition:

Isotopes Notes:

Isotopes are defined as atoms with the same atomic number and different numbers of neutrons. We can say that they have the same number of protons but differ in number of neutrons. For example, Hydrogen has three isotopes, protium, deuterium and tritium with 0, 1 and 2 neutrons respectively. Carbon has isotopes carbon-12 and carbon-14. Uranium-234, Uranium-235 and uranium-238 are isotopes of uranium. Isotopes are also extremely useful in diagnosis and medication purposes.
