Elimination Reaction Definition:

Elimination Reaction Notes:

Elimination reaction is a type of organic reaction. In this reaction two substituents are removed from a molecule. The substituents removed are small molecules while the original molecule is an organic molecule. This is done in either a one or two-step mechanism. The one-step mechanism is called the E2 reaction, and the two-step mechanism is called the E1 reaction. Example of elimination reaction is the removal of a hydrogen atom and a halogen atom which is known as dehydrohalogenation.
