Amino Acid Residue Notes:
When two or more amino acids combine together to form a peptide, elements of water are removed. As a result of this, what remains behind is called amino acid residue. The term residue itself stands for the leftover in a reaction. Amino acids are the compounds containing amino and carboxyl group. These are the building blocks of protein and thus have a very important role in biochemistry. In order to form protein, they combine together to form a peptide chain first and during this process the substance left behind is amino acid residue.
