Botulin Notes:
Botulinum toxin, produced by Clostridium botulinum, is a neurotoxic protein. This protein prevents the release of neurotransmitter acetylcholine from axon endings at the neuromuscular junction and this causes flaccid paralysis. Botulism is the disease that is caused if one is infected if this bacterium.
