Alveolar Macrophage Notes:
Alveolar macrophages are macrophages, which are present in the pulmonary alveolus, near the pneumocytes; however, they are detached from the wall. Since alveolar macrophages are located at a main boundary between the outside world and body, therefore, their activity is relatively high by ingesting the inhaled microorganisms or particulate matter.
