In sexual reproduction, the fusion of haploid gametes forms a diploid cell, the zygote.

Zygote Notes:
A zygote is the union of the sperm cell and the egg cell or it can also be called a fertilized egg. Also known as a fertilized ovum, the zygote begins as a single cell but divides rapidly in the days following fertilization. After this two-week period of cell division, the zygote eventually becomes an embryo.
Zygote Notes:
A zygote is a cell, eukaryotic, that is formed by a fertilization event between two gametes. The zygote's genome is formed from the addition of DNA from each gamete and contains all genetic information that is needed to form an offspring. In many multicellular organisms, the zygote is the initial developmental stage. during the human fertilisation, a released ovum and a male sperm cell both fuse to form a single 2n diploid cell which is called the zygote.
