miRNA Definition:
Small non coding RNAs that regulate gene expression by binding to mRNAs.

miRNA Notes:
A microRNA is a small non-coding RNA molecule found in plants, animals and some viruses, that functions in RNA silencing and post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression. miRNAs function via base-pairing with complementary sequences within mRNA molecules. miRNA form a complex with certain proteins than bind to their target mRNA and can silence it or destroy it.
