Sequence Similarity Definition:
- Percentage of aligned residues that are similar in physiochemical properties. - Essential Bioinformatics by Jin Xiong
Sequence Similarity Notes:
When two sequences are compared, the number of residues (nucleotides in case of DNA or RNA and amino acids in case of protein) that have same physiochemical properties i.e. size, solubility, shape, the compared sequences are said to be similar sequences and process is known as sequence similarity.
