Consumers Notes:

Consumers are organisms that need to eat food to obtain their energy. These organisms are called heterotrophs, meaning they must eat something else (hetero) as food. Therefore any organisms that are dependent on producers are termed as consumers. It obtains food by eating other animals or organic matter and cannot produce its own food from inorganic sources. An example of this would be humans, animals etc. They survive on eating plants or other animals and use them as an organic source to get energy.
