After the requirements are identified, the needed products, services, supplies or items must be acquired. There can be many different ways for the acquisition of the needed materials. The selection of the appropriate acquisition material is very important part of the procurement process. The procurement process stage that involves the selection of acquisition method is called solicitation cycle. Different acquisition methods can be used. Common among them are advertising, negotiations and small purchases. Advertising is performed when the price is considered to be the main factor for vendor selection. Negotiations are used when price for the purchases can be negotiated or bargained.
