Theory Y Definition:

Theory Y Notes:

Project managers tend to adopt different strategies to direct their project team members. A strategy to direct the team members is called Theory Y. Theory Y was developed by Douglas McGregor. According to Theory Y, the workers are always willing to work, they just need a motivation. Theory Y is the complete opposite of Theory Y. It is assumed that workers need very less supervision while performing their responsibilities. Further assumptions of Theory Y are that a worker is always active to perform his/her job and the physical and mental effort involved in a job is considered satisfying by them, Workers work on self-direction and outcomes and results are always good because of willingness to work, and the worker finds ways to improve themselves through their jobs.
