Catenanes Notes:

Catenane is a mechanically-interlocked molecular architecture that consists of two or more macrocycles that are interlocked and these are molecules that contain rings that are intertwined. These interlocked rings cannot be detached unless the covalent bonds are broken of the macrocyles. Catena is a Latin word meaning "chain" from which the Catenane word is derived.
