Aerotolerant anaerobes are those anaerobes, which can tolerate the presence of oxygen or can guard themselves from oxygen molecules but they do not require oxygen for their survival. They produce ATP by the process of fermentation. Some of the commonly present aerotolerant anaerobes are C tertium, Lactobacillus sp., C histolyticum and Clostridium carnis.
