Somatic cells Notes:
All the cells in the body are termed somatic cells with the exclusion of the reproduction cells. All the mature muscle cells or endothelial cells etc. fall in the category of somatic cells. These cells only under go mitosis and not meiosis. The reproductive cells however undergo meiosis to split the genetic material so there's only one copy of each chromosome in each resulting daughter cell.
