Ocean acidification Definition:
When CO2 dissolves in seawater, it reacts with water to form carbonic acid, which lowers ocean pH, a process known as ocean acidification.

Ocean acidification Notes:
When oceans uptake the carbon dioxide from air, the pH of the ocean decreases. This has resulted in ongoing acidification of the oceans of the world. Seawater is slightly basic already so its acidification leads a shift towards a more neutral pH rather than acidifying.
