To carry out a particular project, planning is the fundamental element. A project must be planned first so that the project team has a source of guidance regarding what is to be accomplished and how. A project plan is basically a document that lists all the customer's requirements of the project. It shows what is to be accomplished by the project and the work scope. A project plan divides the objective of the project into a number of milestones. The product/outcome from each milestone is basically work deliverable. A project plan defines the milestones, the way to achieve them and also develop time frames to achieve the milestones.
