When the project's schedule is to be developed, the most important thing is to identify the relationship between the project activities and tasks. Different tools and techniques can be used to achieve this goal. One of the tools is called precedence diagramming method. Precedence diagramming method involves the graphical representation of the project's activities (shown as nodes) and their relationship (through arrows). The relationship basically determines the sequence of the activities to be performed. Different relationships can be established between the activities. These include finish to start (FS), finish to finish (FF), and start to start (SS), start to finish (SF). In precedence diagramming method, two activities can have two different relationships, however, multiple relationships are not recommended and the relationship with highest impact must be selected for easiness.
