Common Cause Variation Definition:

Common Cause Variation Notes:

A process can have different types of variations. A type of process variation that has known or unknown causes and affects the process in a specific way is called common cause variation. A better way of quality management is to control the process that produces the products. Any change in the product specification is a result of process variations. Common cause variation cannot be eliminated completely from the process. Due to this variation, the output data points are distributed randomly across the average/mean but their distribution is steady. Under common cause variations, the produced products are according to the specifications but all of them are not of the same dimension. Common cause variations are normally small and does not affect the products produced however, they sometimes can be large and must not be ignored.
