Committee Sponsorship Notes:
An individual who is responsible for the performance of a project is called project sponsor. Generally, an organization assigns a single individual as a project sponsor. There are several risks associated with this assignment. One of the risks is the biasness or favoritism shown by the project sponsor which results in sub-optimal decisions. To reduce this risk and other related risks, organizations have moved to the concept of committee sponsorship. Committee sponsorship involves assigning the sponsorship responsibilities to a number of people belonging to different functions of the organization. Committee sponsorship is adopted by the organizations that work under the umbrella of concurrent engineering. The project sponsor can be form operations, research and development etc. and are belong to middle management level.
