Anammoxosome is a pseudo-organelle and a huge intracytoplasmic compartment present in the planctomycete cell, and in this compartment, the anammox reaction takes place. A single bilayer ladderane lipid-containing membrane, which is present in bacteria, covers this intracytoplasmic compartment.
