Alternative RNA splicing Definition:
Many genes are known to give rise to two or more different polypeptides, depending on which segments are treated as exons during RNA processing; this is called alternative RNA splicing.

Alternative RNA splicing Notes:
Alternative splicing, or differential splicing, is a regulated process during gene expression that results in a single gene coding for multiple proteins. In this process, particular exons of a gene may be included within or excluded from the final, processed messenger RNA (mRNA) produced from that gene and so this gives rise to different combinations of exons which in turn, can produce different proteins from the same transcript.
