Introns Definition:
Noncoding segments of nucleic acid that lie between coding regions are called intervening sequences, or introns.

Introns Notes:
The non coding regions on an mRNA transcript are called the introns. They do not code however they are involved in gene regulation. These sequences are spliced out with the help of the spliceosome and only exons are left which join together to form a mature mRNA transcript.
