Testes Notes:

Testicles are the male reproductive gland or gonad in all animals, including humans. They are the male homolog to the female ovary. The functions of the testes are to produce both sperm and male hormones like testosterone. Testosterone release is ordered by the anterior pituitary luteinizing hormone while the sperm production is controlled both by the gonadal testosterone and anterior pituitary follicle-stimulating hormone. Males have two testicles of similar size contained within the scrotum which is formed by an extension of the abdominal wall.
