Stroma Definition:
Chloroplast has an envelope of two membranes surrounding a dense fluid which is called the stroma.
Campbell Biology by J.B. Reece, L.A. Urry, M.L. Cain, S.A. Wasserman, P.V. Minorsky, R.B. Jackson
Stroma Notes:
The stroma refers to the colorless fluid surrounding the grana within the chloroplast. Within the stroma are grana, stacks of thylakoid, the sub-organelles, the daughter cells, where photosynthesis is commenced before the chemical changes are completed in the stroma. The fluid inside the chloroplast is much like the mitochondrial matrix.
