In biochemistry, two biopolymers (like the two strands in a DNA double helix) are termed as antiparallel, if they run parallel to each other, in opposite alignments (directionality). For example the strands of a DNA double helix, run in opposite directions, parallel to each other, i.e., one strand goes 5'→3', top to bottom, the other goes 3'→5'.
