Chancroid Notes:

Chancroid is a bacterial infection that results in the formation of open sores on or around the genitals. The lesion is also referred to as a chancroid or ulcer. The bacterium Haemophilus ducreyi is responsible for this disease. Rarely seen in the United Sates, the disease is more common the developing nation. A chancroid may spread by skin-to-skin contact, bleeding or by producing a contagious liquid that spreads the bacterium.
