Viral envelope Notes:
Viral envelopes are not present on all viruses. Some viruses which include HIV and many other animal viruses, have viral envelopes covering their protective protein capsids. The envelopes are not naturally present on the virus particle but rather are typically derived from portions of the host cell membranes which are made of phospholipids and proteins. Some viral envelopes include viral glycoproteins. These envelopes may help viruses avoid the host immune system.
