Over - intake of nutrients (O/N) is form of malnutrition in which more nutrients are taken than the amounts required for normal growth, development and metabolism.

Over consumption is also a factor of malnutrition due to over - intake of nutrients that exceed the normal amount, needed for healthy development, growth as well as metabolism. Over - eating gives rise to low efficiency in doing daily physical activity, resulting in reduced energy expenditure. It further causes a variety of health problems. For instance, excessive quantity of carbohydrates fats causes obesity, cardiovascular and diabetes. Similarly, over - dose of vitamin 'A' put up to loss appetite and problems related to liver, while disproportion of vitamin 'D' leads to displacement of calcium in various tissue.
