Small intestine is the path that runs across the stomach and the large intestine; ileum, jejunum and duodenum collectively performs the function of digestion. The 90% of digestion and absorption of food takes place in small intestine. It is also involve in the absorption of nutrients and minerals from food. Duodenum is considered as the first part of small intestine, contributes in the first step of digestion.
