The Cephalosporins are a group of β-lactam antibiotics, derived from the fungus named Acremonium, (which was previously known as Cephalosporium, hence the name). Combined with cephamycina, they contitute "Cephems" (a sub group of β-lactam antibiotics). They were discovered in 1945 amd sold for the first time in 1964.
