Homology Notes:
Homology is the existence of shared ancestry between a pair of structures, or genes, in different taxa. Foe example homologues structures in dolphins and humans and bats. Another example of homology is the sequence homology between protein or DNA sequences is similarly defined in terms of shared ancestry. Two segments of DNA can have shared ancestry based on duplication events or speciation events.
