Marketing research to better describe marketing problems, situations, or markets, such as the market potential for a product or the demographics and attitudes of consumers.

It is a research method which explains the characteristics of the targeted population. It usually describes the situation, rather than making accurate predictions. Additionally, descriptive research basically focuses on explaining demographic segment of the market. This research is usually based on 'what' rather than 'why' of the subject happens. It has three different types includes; observational method, case study method, and survey method.
